a second-generation surfboard builder, Reid Lingenfelter began shaping boards by hand while pursuing an education in the arts and quickly came to appreciate the artform of the craft itself -- balancing the more literal components of craftsmanship with artistic theory to create pieces of functional art that can be used as well as admired.
