we worked hand-in-hand with Heath Ceramics in an attempt to capture the depths and dimensions of one of our favorite shades: indigo, leaning on their creativity, years of experience, and vast archive of glazes and finishes.

combining a hand-applied technique with their own ingenuity, Heath arrived at the final product -- two pieces sprayed, spattered, and brushed to achieve something unexpectedly dynamic and truly beautiful.

founded in 1948 as a ceramics studio in Sausalito, CA, Heath Ceramics is a storied institution of the pottery community.

outside of our deep reverence for their history and experience, we also feel a certain kinsmanship to their approach: an unrelenting desire to elevate materials and explore technique, all in a pursuit of beauty paired with functionality.

this intent manifests itself in everything they do -- right down to using the same clay today that Edith Heath originally developed back in the 1940's. although their roots go deep, Heath continues to push their designs forward, always building towards something fresh and compelling.

we view these pieces, and everything Heath Ceramics makes, as heirlooms meant to be passed down from generation to generation -- the fact that our own homes are already stocked with ceramics shaped in their original factory is a testament to the longevity of their pieces, as well as their timeless design.
