founded in 1968, Port Canvas originally began its journey by transforming sailcloth scraps into tote bags at their facility in Kennebunkport, Maine. it wasn't until 2014 that our friend David Mullen discovered their operation, and began frequently using their canvas bags for smaller projects.

as their relationship grew closer, and the all-too-familiar hurdles of producing domestically became more daunting, David undertook the task of breathing new life into the brand and permanently took over the day-to-day operations of Port Canvas. although this transition didn't come without its own set of challenges, David firmly believed in the quality of their work -- and knew it was something worth fighting for.

after being cut, marked, and accessorized under one roof, each of the 19 steps required for the sewing and stitching of each tote bag is handled from start to finish by one of only three sewers on the Port Canvas team -- who then initials their bag as the final step of completion.
