Apparel Designer

We are seeking to hire an Apparel Designer, someone who can propel us forward in all aspects of apparel concepting and design decisions. Working alongside our Founder as well as our Product Development team, the prospective candidate will provide creative leadership with regard to design to meet aesthetic, quality, and cost requirements on par with brand and industry standards. This person will lead design decisions inclusive of denim and a range of other apparel and accessories, and be responsible for detailed decisions to bring products to life. We are optimistic that the prospective designer and our team (our brand) will connect on a level beyond standards of qualification and ability. We are searching for someone to inspire us and push us forward, but at once we hope to meet someone that has a deep and intrinsic understanding for the soul that has developed within imogene + willie over the course of the past 15 years.  This full time role is based in-person in Nashville, and reports to the Director of Product Development. They can expect to work closely with our executive partner leadership, development team, pattern maker, production team, our sewing facility in Los Angeles, and denim laundry partner facilities. Responsibilities: Collaborate on mood and concept for seasonal collections. Distill overarching seasonal concepts into style-level design iterations. Communicate design concept and intent with development teams to ensure seamless transition from concept to sample. Provide leadership and direction around fabric selection and sourcing that resonates with the brand’s ethos and identity and supports pricing targets. Collaborate with pattern maker to advance style concepts through patterning and weekly fit sessions. Guide trim selections, construction details and wash direction to advance style concepts. Communicate with sample room, pattern makers, and development team on a daily basis to ensure proper and efficient progress of samples. Keep up to date on emerging fashion trends via researching the market regularly for inspiration, sourcing, and product opportunities. Develop deep understanding of brand aesthetic and customer identity to guide product assortment direction. Qualifications: Extensive experience designing in multiple categories, including denim, non-denim bottoms, wovens, knits, and outerwear. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effortlessly convey design concept and specifications. Have an intrinsic understanding of clothing anatomy and the relationship between design and the body. Excellent knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, garment construction, fabric, and finishings. Have the ability to visually convey comprehensive design concepts. Experience using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop for flat sketching, print recoloring, and development

Graphic Designer

Nashville: working closely with the Creative Director, digital team & company leadership, this person will help create and develop designs and artwork for t-shirts, print, digital, and related categories--working from initial ideation and concept to finished product. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE at least 1 year of graphic design experience including e-commerce, print layout, and branding. advanced knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign (HTML/CSS capabilities are a plus).exceptional typographical skills and meticulous attention to detail. a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combo of education and experience. where and if you went to school for design doesn’t matter nearly as much as your abilities in aesthetics and application.must have the ability to multitask, take direction, and fulfill multiple project requests while meeting deadlines. to apply, email jobs@imogeneandwillie.com

Internships
