a fresh expression of one of our favorite denim washes.

for this iteration, we wanted to explore adding another layer of dimension to how we approach broken-in denim: taking a tried and true indigo wash, we overdyed this jean in a slate shade, before finally applying a light abrasion.

the end result adds an additional step to the wear-in process -- evolving from slate, to indigo, to the natural shades beneath as the jean transforms with time and wear.

willie sits above the hips and is straight through the thigh and knee.

How To Measure

first thing's first, grab a pair of your favorite pants that have a similar rise. find a measuring tape and a flat surface to measure on. be sure to lay your pants flat, smoothing out the fabric to remove any slack. compare the measurements to the chart above.

waist

the circumference of the waistband, along the top edge.

hip

the width at the bottom of the J stitch, straight across. double the flat measurement.

Front rise

the length from the bottom of the crotch seam to the top edge of the front waistband.

thigh

starting 1” below the crotch seam, the width of the leg perpendicular to the outer seam. double the flat measurement.

leg opening

the width of the opening at the bottom of the leg. double the flat measurement.

inseam

following the inside-leg seam, the length from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

these are my new favorite pair of jeans -- the over-dyed denim stands out against everything else in my closet, and they have an already broken-in comfort that makes them an easy pair to throw on anytime.

my usual size is 29, but i went with a 30 for a more relaxed feel, so i would say they fit true to size. these jeans felt perfect from the first wear, and the washed denim got softer and more comfortable each time i put them on.

the over-dye on this fabric has so much character and dimension, and the way this denim was washed down makes the color feels really singular. these willies have become my daily wear, and i don't see that changing any time soon.
