How To Measure

first thing's first, grab a pair of your favorite pants that have a similar rise. find a measuring tape and a flat surface to measure on. be sure to lay your pants flat, smoothing out the fabric to remove any slack. compare the measurements to the chart below.

waist

the circumference of the waistband, along the top edge.

hip

the width at the bottom of the J stitch, straight across. double the flat measurement.

Front rise

the length from the bottom of the crotch seam to the top edge of the front waistband.

thigh

starting 1” below the crotch seam, the width of the leg perpendicular to the outer seam. double the flat measurement.

leg opening

the width of the opening at the bottom of the leg. double the flat measurement.

inseam

following the inside-leg seam, the length from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

denim wear test

before a new jean is released, a member of our team takes the time to wear them day in and day out, in order to see exactly how the pant evolves over time.

notes:

first off, i prefer a lighter wash jean, so i was happy with the look of this willie from the start. at first they were snug on the hips, but even then, there were no mobility constraints -- they were perfect for days of sitting around and for days full of walking around.

i typically wear a size 32 and that's what i got here. although they grew a little around the waist, i would still choose the size 32 myself. when i first put them on they were snug around the waist like a normal fit, but within the first day i could notice a difference. i'd say after 2 days of wearing them, they didn't change anymore.

if you are looking for a versatile jean that instantly has a comfortable feel, then these are the way to go.

four years ago, we embarked on a project centered on taking our commitment to domestic manufacturing to the next level.

we started with the second half of our uniform, a plain white t-shirt. but from day one, we knew we wanted to continue these efforts with our first love: blue jeans.

while using our regeneratively farmed cotton was the foundation of this next step, we wanted to take it even further.

we wanted to use natural indigo.

stony creek colors
just thirty miles north of our home nashville, lies Stony Creek Colors: a regenerative farm that grows plant-based dyes throughout the southeast, including natural indigo.

this farm was founded with the intent of producing natural indigo the way it used to be made: as a 100% plant-based dye, all while practicing regenerative farming practices.

for us, these two jeans and the Cotton Project tees that preceded them are both a statement of commitment and a challenge to the apparel industry.

by seeing through the entire process, from planting a seed to releasing a garment, we want to challenge the prevailing model of exporting American cotton overseas for production. in the process, we can reinvest our own efforts back into the communities close to home.
