sewn from an unbelievable japanese cotton-poly selvage, this jean that is garment-dyed before being hit with a light rinse to unlock the inherently slubby nature of the fabric -- further emphasizing the subtle variance in shade that the poly thread brings to the mix.

sitting right on the hips with a roomy top block, Russell has an easy fit with just the right amount of slouch, then ends in a less gradual taper that cuts quickly to the leg opening.

How To Measure

first thing's first, grab a pair of your favorite pants that have a similar rise. find a measuring tape and a flat surface to measure on. be sure to lay your pants flat, smoothing out the fabric to remove any slack. compare the measurements to the chart above.

waist

the circumference of the waistband, along the top edge.

hip

the width at the bottom of the J stitch, straight across. double the flat measurement.

Front rise

the length from the bottom of the crotch seam to the top edge of the front waistband.

thigh

starting 1” below the crotch seam, the width of the leg perpendicular to the outer seam. double the flat measurement.

leg opening

the width of the opening at the bottom of the leg. double the flat measurement.

inseam

following the inside-leg seam, the length from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

i really enjoyed wearing these jeans. as someone who tends to reach for a straight/wide fitting pant, i was pleasantly surprised by the subtle taper on this pair.

i primarily paired these jeans with my go-to van slip-ons or redwing boots and sported them casually with a handful of my favorite tees, but i could also dress them up with a tweed blazer.

with a 31 providing a “proper” fit, but opting for a 32 most of time, sizing up offered the spacious fit that’d i’d expected, so i would say this pair fits true to size. these jeans were extremely comfortable right out of the gate and required no break in time at all.

i would recommend this pair to anyone that enjoys a comfortable, easy-to-wear jean. with ample room in the seat and thigh, this jean was an easy choice each day that i tossed them on, and the spruce wash welcomes a tasteful change of pace that is extremely versatile.
