sewn from an open weave denim that feels like a heavier-weight fabric, but does so without the extra bulk -- it is a sturdy, substantial, year-round denim.

How To Measure

first thing's first, grab a pair of your favorite pants that have a similar rise. find a measuring tape and a flat surface to measure on. be sure to lay your pants flat, smoothing out the fabric to remove any slack. compare the measurements to the chart below.

waist

the circumference of the waistband, along the top edge.

hip

the width at the bottom of the J stitch, straight across. double the flat measurement.

Front rise

the length from the bottom of the crotch seam to the top edge of the front waistband.

thigh

starting 1” below the crotch seam, the width of the leg perpendicular to the outer seam. double the flat measurement.

leg opening

the width of the opening at the bottom of the leg. double the flat measurement.

inseam

following the inside-leg seam, the length from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

i started out as a willie guy, but when i found out there was something similar with a higher rise i was stoked to try on lewis. they sit perfectly above the hips closer to my natural waist, and though a little more roomy in the thighs they don’t feel bulky or awkward.

i wear a 30 in i+w jeans and i went with a 30 in these. i feel like they are consistent with my i+w sizing.

lewis started out a little snug at the waist (just how i like my typical sizing to start out), but with the first wear they relaxed -- but never relaxed so much that i felt like they were too loose or going to fall lower than where i like my rise to sit.

having been a loyal willie wearer, i thought a more perfect fit didn’t exist until i put on a pair of lewis: they're truly my ideal jean fit.
