some denim washes are born of a specific intent -- others are guided by the fabric itself. this wash was a happy marriage of the two: a process where a killer selvage denim lended itself perfectly to the medium shade, stone washed jean we had in mind from the get-go.

lewis is a high rise that sits above the hips with a relaxed thigh and a straight leg.

How To Measure

first thing's first, grab a pair of your favorite pants that have a similar rise. find a measuring tape and a flat surface to measure on. be sure to lay your pants flat, smoothing out the fabric to remove any slack. compare the measurements to the chart above.

waist

the circumference of the waistband, along the top edge.

hip

the width at the bottom of the J stitch, straight across. double the flat measurement.

Front rise

the length from the bottom of the crotch seam to the top edge of the front waistband.

thigh

starting 1” below the crotch seam, the width of the leg perpendicular to the outer seam. double the flat measurement.

leg opening

the width of the opening at the bottom of the leg. double the flat measurement.

inseam

following the inside-leg seam, the length from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

i loved wearing these. this was my first time in the lewis fit, and my first time in a pair of washed i+w jeans which made for a totally new experience. initially i worried that the higher rise would make sitting for long periods uncomfortable, but was pleased to find that this wasn’t the case at all!

as a pretty active person, i really appreciate the extra room in the thigh. this, along with the wash made these extremely comfortable for all day wear. i felt like this wash’s super power was that it worked with whatever color shirt i threw at it, which made getting dressed in the morning a breeze.

my typical i+w size is a 30, and that’s what i went with in these. they were snug in the waist and seat on the first wear or two, but from the second wear onward, i needed a belt to keep these where they had sat originally. i’m really glad i went with this size, and i would recommend fitting them comfortably snug because they will stretch out.

the wash is a home run, but what keeps me reaching for these on the daily is their comfort. after the first 2 wears, i spent as much time lounging in these as i did out and about -- i am a huge fan of the way these fit me.
