black washes can be tricky, but this particular wash, feels almost too good to be true.

sewn from a killer black Japanese selvage denim, we washed this jean down to achieve the look (and feel) of a pant that has been worn to perfection with time and consistent wear -- right in the sweet spot of character and dimension.

How To Measure

first thing's first, grab a pair of your favorite pants that have a similar rise. find a measuring tape and a flat surface to measure on. be sure to lay your pants flat, smoothing out the fabric to remove any slack. compare the measurements to the chart below.

waist

the circumference of the waistband, along the top edge.

hip

the width at the bottom of the J stitch, straight across. double the flat measurement.

Front rise

the length from the bottom of the crotch seam to the top edge of the front waistband.

thigh

starting 1” below the crotch seam, the width of the leg perpendicular to the outer seam. double the flat measurement.

leg opening

the width of the opening at the bottom of the leg. double the flat measurement.

inseam

following the inside-leg seam, the length from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

these might be my new favorite black jeans -- if you’re looking to be in the middle of a slim and a baggy fit, these are the ones.

these jeans were comfortable from the first wear, fitting the body where you need them to, and relaxed everywhere else. i am typically a 31, but i wore a 32 knowing that the waists were a little on the smaller side, and felt like that was the right call to size up. they definitely relax a little as you wear them, but i didn’t find myself needing to pull them up as the waist didn’t bag out like some other 100% cotton denim does.

there is more room in the thighs, and the rise is still low enough to comfortably wear all day, whether at a desk or roaming around. the wash is so good too, sort of reminds me how your favorite black jeans would eventually wear down to that perfect place.
