one of 11 carefully selected pairs of jeans, each one the result of someone wearing them right up until the day they simply could not be worn again.

we started by washing each pair by hand, then spent time reflecting on what reconstruction, reinforcement, and detailed repair would be fitting for that same jean to start its second life.

the end result is a pair of jeans that can be worn, or treasured as the pieces of artwork that it is.

How To Measure

first thing's first, grab a pair of your favorite pants that have a similar rise. find a measuring tape and a flat surface to measure on. be sure to lay your pants flat, smoothing out the fabric to remove any slack. compare the measurements to the chart below.

waist

the circumference of the waistband, along the top edge.

hip

the width at the bottom of the J stitch, straight across. double the flat measurement.

Front rise

the length from the bottom of the crotch seam to the top edge of the front waistband.

thigh

starting 1” below the crotch seam, the width of the leg perpendicular to the outer seam. double the flat measurement.

leg opening

the width of the opening at the bottom of the leg. double the flat measurement.

inseam

following the inside-leg seam, the length from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
