an extremely limited edition shoe that is truly a labor of love.

each piece of denim used for the shoes has been individually chosen from our treasured archive of jeans, all previously worn in and loved by their owners right up until the day they simply could not be worn again.

the denim was selected, cut, and quilted together by hand in our Nashville store's tailor shop and then taken to Sabah's workshop in El Paso, where they cut the patchwork to create a denim upper for the shoe.

every shoe is then made by hand by the small team of master craftsmen and women at the Sabah workshop.

loving a pair of rigid jeans means you'll spend years enjoying them; they wear in, fade, and become part of your life. even though, like us, you might get them repaired multiple times; eventually, a jean's life has to end.

we never liked this thought: the notion that the end of being able to wear a pair of jeans is the end of the story.

we've gotten our hands on many beautiful, well-worn, and storied pairs... most of them donated by friends who hated the idea of just getting rid of them.

we consider each of them to be pieces of art made by the wearer. so we've held onto them, waiting for inspiration to strike.

meanwhile, in recent years we've developed a deepening friendship with the New York-based shoe company, Sabah. they've been making beautiful leather shoes, by hand, in Turkey for nearly a decade. last year they opened a new workshop in El Paso, Texas so they could make shoes right here in the USA.

naturally, we started to dream up the idea of a collaboration.
